Ulma Mae Chastain was born on October 9, 1921, in Bristol, Texas. She went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 8, 2012 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde M. Chastain; mother, Suda and father, Hugh Fowler; sisters, Christine Stillwell, Pauline Griffin, and Geraldine Vaughn; and brother, Hugh Fowler.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Norma Beustring and husband Larry of Fulshear; two grandchildren, Russell Van Beustring and wife Pamela of Weston Lakes, and Michelle Deanne Burroughs and husband John of Katy. The joy and pride of her life were her 5 great grandchildren, Samantha Thompson, Alec Beustring, Holly Thompson, Tabatha Beustring, and Emily Thompson. She was also survived by her sisters, Mary Nelson of The Woodlands, Minnie Bynum of Hubbard, Carolyn Mundy of Dallas, Jo Ane Peridore of Missouri, Judy Jenkins of Ohio; her brothers, Calvin Fowler, Jack Fowler, Gene Fowler and Frank Fowler, all of Illinois, and Jerry Don Fowler of Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Chastain was a member of the Church of Christ most of her life. She had attended Katy Church of Christ in the past. She grew up during the depression years on a cotton farm in Bristol, TX. She graduated from Ennis High School and married the man of her dreams shortly after. They lived in Kaufman, TX where their only daughter was born. They moved to Dallas during the WWII years where they both worked at a defense plant, North American Aviation. After the war, Mrs. Chastain began a career in cosmetics. She worked at many companies, Sears Roebuck, Skillerns, and Revlon. She achieved many awards for her sales and later trained and managed other employees.

Her interests in life were mainly her family, but first was her love for Jesus Christ. She was a generous and loving daughter, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother, and sister. She was loved and admired by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Rev.
