Mr. Val Henry Sharp, Jr.
1923 - 2011

Mr. Val Henry Sharp, Jr., 87, of San Augustine, Texas, passed away early Friday morning, March 18, 2011, in San Augustine.

Val was born to Thelma (Harris) Sharp and Val Sharp on April 10, 1923, in San Augustine County, Texas. He served in World War II, as a Navy Pilot, was employed by Sun Oil from the years of 1949-1983, as an Accountant. He, along with his lovely wife, Lucy Lane had the unique experience of living and traveling in the different countries of the world, enjoying the customs, and languages of each country. Retiring in the mid 1980's, he moved back to his beloved hometown of the City of San Augustine, where he would remain there and he continued to be actively involved in the various civic organizations, including; The Tri-County, The Boys and Girls Club, The American Legion, The Chamber of Commerce, The SRT, The Old 300 Club, Deep East Council of Goverments, and the Historical Society. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in San Augustine.

Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in San Augustine. Rev. Bob Leslie will officiate.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years: Lucy Lane Sharp of San Augustine; Daughters: Valerie ``Susie'' Stockholm and her husband, Carl of Houston; Lane Mason of College Station; Grandchildren: Christopher Stockholm and his wife, Michelle; Mark Stockholm and his wife, Lauren; Megan Trant and her husband, Dr. Justin Trant; Great-Grandchildren: Savannah Stockholm, Stockton Trant and Merdith Stockholm.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Val Sharp; son, Greg Sharp; brothers, Charles Sharp and Robert Sharp.
