DR. VANCE LITTLEJOHN
BURLINGTON - Dr. Vance Thomas Littlejohn, 85, of 343 Baldwin Road in Burlington died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 1995, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service for Dr. Littlejohn and his late wife, Katherine who died Oct. 14, 1992 will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Burlington, conducted by the Rev. Phyllis Kort.
Dr. Littlejohn was born in Maury County, Tenn. and moved to Greensboro in 1938. He was of the Episcopal faith. Dr. Littlejohn received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green College in Bowling Green, Kty. He receive his Masters degree, as well as his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburg.
Dr. Littlejohn taught at UNC-Greensboro for 35 years. He served as chairman of the Business Education Department. For three years, he served as acting Dean of the Graduate School. He was the founder and the first president of the N.C. Business Education Council. He served as secretary/treasurer and president of the National Administrative Society. He was the faculty sponsor of Delta Phi Epsilon (graduate business education fraternity) from 1943 until 1973. He was the recipient of the Merit Award and Scroll from the national Administrative Management Society. He receive the Business Education leadership Award from former Governor Robert Scott. He was an inductee into the N.C. Business Education Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie L. Artley of Burlington; sister, Nina L. McKay of Lewisburg, Tenn.,
stepgrandchildren, Melanie A. Porterfield of Jonesboro, Tenn., Kevin C. Artley of Burlington, Nathan M. Artley of Fayetteville and Malvin N. Artley Jr. of Adelaide, Australia.

The family will be at the home of Dr. Littlejohn's daughter, Jean L. Artley, 208 Shadowbrook Drive in Burlington.
