AGED PARISH WOMAN DEAD
Mrs. Vashtie McDonald, aged Caldwell parish of ward 8 and widow of the late J. A. McDonald of Hebert, died this week and was buried today (Thursday) at Old Bethel cemetery, west of Clarks. She was 82 years of age at the time of her death, being born on August 14, 1866.
She is survived by the following children:
Mrs. Mary Harveston of near Grayson; Will McDonald of Columbia; Jim McDonald of Pioneer, Thomas (Tebo) McDonald of near Delhi, Charlie McDonald of Hebert, John McDonald of Pine Bluff, Ark., Mrs. Carl A. Williams and Mrs. Sherwood Poole of Hebert. She practically reared a grandson, Jack McDonald, who now resides in West Monroe.
She also leaves to mourn her departure 39 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death several years ago and a daughter, Mrs. Holt Curry, Jr., died a few months ago.
Interment was under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia, with the following pallbearers serving:
James Mott, George Mott, Thos. McDonald, Leroy and Willie Harveston.
Before her marriage she was Miss Vashtie Thomas. She was active in church circles being a member of the Bethany Baptist Church of ward 8.

HEBERT NEWS
The people of this community were shocked to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Vashti McDonald, who was making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sherwood Poole, but at the of her death had spent the night with a son, Charles McDonald. The family has our heartfelt sympathy.
