Velma Lee Henderson
Sherman- Funeral services for Velma Lee Henderson will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday October 8 at Waldo Funeral Home. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Henderson, 88, passed away Thursday October 6 at the Homestead of Sherman.
Velma was born October 18, 1922 in Sherman, Texas to the late James and Mollie (Whittington) Arnold. She attended Sherman schools and married Elba Henderson on September 2, 1952 in Sherman. Mrs. Henderson worked for Pool Manufacturing and later as a nurse's aide at several nursing homes in Sherman. Mrs. Henderson was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church. Velma was compassionate caregiver who loved her family more than anything. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic and how she faithfully cared for her mother and several other family members at the end of their lives.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by two daughters, Sherron Donahue and Ruth Henderson, both of Sherman; three grandchildren, Billy Henderson, Lauri Henderson-Hayes and her husband Mike, and LeeAnn Bearden, all of Sherman; one great grandchild, Zachary Bearden of Sherman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight siblings, and one granddaughter.
