Hancock, Velma Temple

A resident of Zachary, she died at 6:12 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary.

Graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Jeff J. Lohrstorfer, to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Meadville, Miss. Mississippi arrangements by Franklin Funeral Home, Meadville, (601) 384-2222.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John William Hancock of Zachary; two sisters, Lucille Temple Abbott of Sacramento, Calif., and Dolores Temple Ratcliff and husband Melvin Ratcliff of Summit, Miss.; brother, Marsette Temple and wife Grace Treadeux Temple of Port Vincent; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Willie and Una Whittington Temple; five sisters, Ida Mae Murry, Audrey Sisco, Willena Hall, Nettie Price and Gladys Hall; and six brothers, Truly, Earnest, Artensie, Will Jr., Floyd and Levon Temple.

She was a former member of Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church and a member of Trinity Methodist Protestant Church in Baker.
