Velma W. “Vollee” Gaar

WINNFIELD, LA - Services for Mrs. Velma W. “Vollee” Gaar, 83, of Winnfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday August 6 at the First United Methodist Church in Winnfield, where she was a member. The Rev. Mike McLaurin, the Rev. Fred Flurry and Dr. Calvin Phelps will officiate. Burial will be at Winnfield City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mrs. Gaar, a native of Winnfield, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday August 4, 1987, at Humana Hospital in Winnfield after a long illness. She was a charter member of Women's Society of Christian Services (United Methodist Women).

Mrs. Gaar was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Gaar, four brothers, James R. Watts, Jr., Averett Watts, Prentis Watts and Kenneth Watts, Sr. and three sisters, Edith Watts, Ina Rushing and Monnie Jackson.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Vicki Gaar of Winnfield; and four grandchildren.
