VENA SCRIBNER

WELLSVILLE -- Vena Scribner, 78, of 68 Chamberlain St., died Saturday (March 1, 2008) in her home after a brief illness.

She was born March 2, 1929, in Jasper County, Miss., the daughter of Jeff and Emma McCarty McCarty.

She had resided in Andover prior to moving to Wellsville 23 years ago.

She was a life member of the Andover Rod & Gun Club and until retirement had been employed in the food service department of Alfred State College.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Brian McAndrew) McNeil of Wellsville; a granddaughter, Anna Marie Odell of Wellsville; a grandson, Bradley James Odell of Wellsville; a great-granddaughter, Vena Mitchell Odell of Wellsville; a sister, Elena Ward of Cleveland, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and many friends that she had help make their lives special.

She was predeceased by six brothers, Gilbert, Allen, Willie, Nelson, Oree and Jeff Jr.; and two sisters, Edna and Louise.

There will be no visitation and funeral and burial services will be held at the family's convenience.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
