Mrs. Vera Byers

Mrs. Vera Lanbright [sic Lambright] Byers, 66, of 31 Oakwood Ave., West Asheville, died in an Asheville hospital Monday night after a brief illness.

Mrs. Byers was a native of Brookhaven, Miss., and had lived in Western North Carolina for 38 years and in Asheville since 1945. She was married in 1927 to Carey Byers of Haywood County, who survives, and before her marriage taught for two years at Haywood Institute at Clyde.

In Asheville, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church and teacher of the Ruth Bible Class.

Surviving beside the husband are a daughter, Miss Mary Lynn Byers of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Alex Day and Mrs. Sam Neeley of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Alton Raley of McComb, Miss., and two brothers, Luke Lanbright [sic Lambright] of Dayton, Texas, and Ralph Lanbright [sic Lambright] of Baytown, Texas.

Services have been tentatively set for Wednesday. Crawford Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
