Services for Verla Looper Moss will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with the Rev. LeLand Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Williana.
Mrs. Moss, 80, a lifetime resident of Bentley, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in her residence.
She attended Bentley Baptist Church in Bentley. Mrs. Moss was a counselor for LTI School for girls and retired after teaching first grade at W.O. Hall Elementary School. She was a dedicated sportswoman. She enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband, family and friends. Her stories, sense of humor and acts of kindness will be greatly missed by all.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jewel Moss of Bentley; daughter, Sharon M. Foster of Bentley; sister, Athena Petty of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Shanna and her husband Steven Ellis of Bentley and Alan Wayne Foster of Bentley; and great-grandchildren, Ben, Josh and Luke Ellis. She also leaves her beloved pet, Tequila.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. until service time Sunday at Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Chelette, Alan Wayne Foster, Don Foster, Preston Mosley, Wayne Ezernack, Eric Megison, Steven Ellis and Brad Sudduth.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Looper, Eddie Ray Deloach and Francis Dobernig.
