MRS. VERA TAYLOR STATON

Westlake -- Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Taylor Staton, 69, will be a 2 p. m. Saturday, May 11, at Hixson Funeral Home.

The Rev. Elmer J. Boswell will officiate. Burial will be in Ritchie Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today, May 10, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Staton died at 2:15 p. m. Wednesday, May 8, 1991 in a local hospital.

A native of Chesnut, she owned and operated Moss Bluff Nursing Pool and worked as a secretary for Operating Engineers Local 406 for 19 years. Mrs. Staton was a member of the Eastern Star Calcasieu Chapter 164, a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and served as church secretary. She was a former employee of Muller's Department Store, played basketball in Muller's league and served as a precinct voter register in Moss Bluff for several years.

Survivors are one son, John Thomas Staton Jr. of Westlake; one daughter, Penny Jo Staton of Ringgold; one brother, J. T. Taylor of Georgia; two sisters, Retha Taylor Wise of Logansport and Mildred Taylor Morris of Houston, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
