Verda Julia (Carpenter) Frazier
Mrs. Verda Julia Carpenter Frazier, widow of Luther Patrick Frazier, died in Irving, TX on February 16th, 2012. She was 97 years old and comforted by her oldest daughter, Barbara Ann Frazier Brazil, when she died of heart failure.
Born May, 9, 1914 in Grace, LA, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Manuel Carpenter and Martha Ann Chandler and three siblings; Bertha Mae Carpenter Green, Gilbert Samuel Carpenter and Norman Lee Carpenter.
She is survived by daughter; Barbara Ann Frazier Brazil and husband, Andrew Johnson Brazil Jr., granddaughter; Gretchen Kay Doll and husband, Ken, great granddaughter; Julie Aleksandra Doll, grandson; Andrew Johnson Brazil III and wife, Deborah, granddaughter; Cathryn Anne Brazil Walker and husband, David, great grandchildren; Jennifer Renee Walker Takala and husband, Lucas, David Brett Walker and wife, Rachel, great great granddaughter; Emily Elizabeth Takala. Daughter; Julia Elizabeth Frazier Jennings and husband, Mike, granddaughter; Stacy Dianne Jennings.
Mrs. Frazier's grandfather, William Alexander Carpenter, was the first pastor, on record, of Bethlehem Baptist Church and she delighted in being a member of that community during her many decades in Winn Parish.
Friends may attend a viewing at Southern Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22nd at Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Calvin. Mrs. Frazier will be laid to rest, next to her husband, in Bethlehem's church cemetery.
