Vermell Gill Freeman
Vermell Gill Freeman, age 88 of Ashland Drive, Lexington passed away Monday night (August 2, 2010) at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday (August 6, 2010) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday.
Vermell was born October 26, 1921 in Green County, Mississippi to William Arthur Gill and Lillie Cowart Gill. She was a retired employee of PPG and very active in the PPG Retirement Club, and a volunteer with Lexington Memorial Hospital. She was a charter and founding member of Clearview Baptist Church and was presently a member of Reeds Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Aaron A. Freeman in 1960; a son John Aaron Freeman; a daughter, Hattie Lorette Freeman; a grandson, Brian Lee Swing; son in law Ron Bush; two brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are; three daughters, Marian F. Ivey husband Franklin and Margaret F. Koontz and husband Stanley all of Lexington and Louise Bush of Denver, CO; two sons, William (Roland ) Freeman wife Delinda of Fayetteville, NC and Edward E. Freeman wife Sharon of Kernersville; thirteen grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
