Pitts

Funeral services for Mrs. Verna Lou (Twomey) Pitts, 69, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woods New Hope Baptist Church in Woods Community with the Rev. John Dowden officiating. Burial was in Woods Cemetery.

Mrs. Pitts, a life-long resident of Panola County, died Monday at Panola General Hospital. She was born March 6, 1913. She was a past Worthy Matron of Tenaha Chapter of Easter[n] Star and a member of Woods Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Pitts of Woods Community; two daughters, Mrs. Frieda Pitts Hooks of Houston and Mrs. Wilma Pitts Griffin of Austin; a sister, Mrs. R. Q. Boyd of Kemah; and four grandchildren.
