Verna Mae Lee Carver
Services for Verna Mae Lee Carver of Carrollton will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Greenwood Church of God.
Mrs. Carver, 77, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, from complications of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease at her home.
Mrs. Carver was a homemaker. She assisted in running the Carroll County Jail for nearly 20 years alongside her late husband, William Glen Carver.
Mrs. Carver was also a member of the Greenwood Church of God for 53 years.
Her children said she was a wonderful, loving mother who was cherished and loved by her family and friends.
They said her love and sweet laughter was the light of their lives and will be deeply missed. Her memory will remain in their hearts until they are reunited once again.
She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Carver of Carmack.
Mrs. Carver is survived by three daughters, Linda Jones and Alice Carver of Greenwood and Donna Brooks of Vaiden; two sons, Albert Carver of Coila and Carlton Carver of Jackson; a brother, Bernard Lee of Nashville, Ind.; a sister, Sarah Mobley of Florissant, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. James McElroy will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the Greenwood Church of God on Brentwood Avenue.
Williams and Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
