Verna Mae Bostwick
Services for Verna Mae Looper Bostwick will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Hixson Bros., Pineville with the Revs. Lloyd Whitman and Leland Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bostwick, 80, of Bentley died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1996, in Woods Haven Senior Citizen Home, Pollock.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Dry Prong, a member of Golden Star Chapter No. 173, Order of Eastern Star and was past worthy Matron. She received her B.A. from Louisiana College and her Masters Degree from George Peabody College, Nashville, Tenn. She served as postmaster in Bentley during the war years and was responsible for establishing the rural route during her tenure. She taught school for 35 years in Pollock and continued her teaching at Prompt Succor Catholic School in Alexandria for five years.
Survivors include one stepson, Malcolm Bostwick of Zachary; and two sisters, Verla L. Moss of Bentley and Athena L. Petty of Lufkin, Texas.
Friends may call from 4:30-9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of services Monday in the funeral home.
