Verneice S. Shoemaker
Verneice S. Shoemaker, 82, of Stringer, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at South Central Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Providence Cemetery in Jasper County. Rev. Frank Newell will officiate.
Mrs. Shoemaker was a licensed practical nurse with Summerland Manor prior to retirement, and was a member of Stringer Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Willis “Billy” Shoemaker; parents, Grover and Ruth McCarty Stringer; and sister, Lucille McCarty.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Sims, and partner Tom Walsh of Montgomery, AL and Jo Ann Boyd of Bay Springs; five grandchildren, Yancy Sims, Melanie Walker, Shanna Parker, William Boyd and Adam Boyd; seven great grandchildren, Anna Sims, Billy Sims, Carson Parker, Logan Parker, Camdyn Boyd, William Maynard and Andrew Maynard; and her pets, Patch, Silver and Mama Kitty.
Pallbearers will be Yancy Sims, Adam Boyd and Will Maynard.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Memory Chapel of Laurel which is in charge of the arrangements.
