Victor A. ``Dick'' Menking
After 83 years of loving service to his family and country, Victor A. ``Dick'' Menking, has gone to meet his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Monday, February 20, 2006.
Victor proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, after which he worked in the Civil Service for 20 more years. He moved to Abilene in 1961 from Tennessee and was a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church.
Along with his beautiful wife, Elline, the two raised two sons, Ricky & wife, Linda of Abilene and Victor Menking, and a daughter, Beverly & husband, Kenneth Utley of Abilene. This wonderful couple celebrated their 60th anniversary February 18, 2006. Victor is also survived by five granddaughters, Heatherly, Amanda, Kyla, Shanna and Marlena, and four beautiful great-granddaughters.
Victor was predeceased by his parents, Hugo & Tillie (Kreps) Menking, his brother, Glen F. Menking (1992), and sister, Oletha Steffens (1998).
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm Saturday in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Rev. Mike Chancellor officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening at their home, 1972 Briarwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crescent Heights Baptist Church, 1902 N. Mockingbird, Abilene, TX 79603.
