Viola Camp Cockerham
Mrs. Viola Camp Cockerham, 107, died early Tuesday morning, in a nursing home in Itasca, Texas.
Born November 1, 1874, in Winnfield, La., she went to Ellis County near Waxahachie, Texas, in 1911 in a covered wagon and had been an Itasca resident for the past 10 years. She was the wife of the late John Henry Cockerham who died in January, 1957. Mrs. Cockerham was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie. She had been a homemaker.
Survivors include 4 sons, Dewey and Boaz Cockerham, both of Waxahachie, Texas, Lawson Cockerham, of Red Oaks, Texas and Odis Cockerham of Lancaster, Texas; 44 grandchildren: 108 great-grandchildren, 131 great-great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie, Texas with Dr. Leroy Fenton, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Burial Park under the direction of Rudolph Snider Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were grandsons of Mrs. Cockerham.
