Mrs. Viola Shay Dies; Services Set For Today

LAKE PROVIDENCE (Special) -- Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Shay, 69, who died Saturday morning in a local hospital.

Mrs. Shay, a resident of Lake Providence, was a member of the Elmwood Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at the Elmwood Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Pete Welch officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Gay's Funeral Home of Lake Providence.

She is survived by two sons, Ernest and Basil McCarty, both of Lake Providence; three daughters, Mrs. Edna Fortenberry, Mrs. Rita Sikes and Mrs. George Williamson, all of Lake Providence; her mother, Mrs. Eula Roan, Bastrop; two brothers, Jim Roan, Mer Rouge and J. T. Roan, Bastrop; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Hughes, Pioneer; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
