Violet Adell Blakeney
Funeral services for Mrs. Violet D. Blakeney, 89, are 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Lapine Assembly of God Church, West Monroe. Rev. Eugene Benson will officiate. Interment will follow at Lapine Assembly of God Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Mrs. Blakeney was born August 28, 1920, in Caldwell Parish and passed away on August 18, 2010 in West Monroe. She was a longtime member of Lapine Assembly of God Church, and owner of Blakeney and Sons Grocery. Mrs. Blakeney was well known for her huge red worms and live bait. She was an avid fisherwoman; and all the fish can breathe easier now in Lake St. John where Mrs. Blakeney often took all of her grandchildren and friends.
Mrs. Blakeney was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Nancy Brady Daniel;
husband, Melvin Blakeney; grandson, Daniel Blakeney; and step-grandson, Max Raymond Lindsey; three brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Blakeney and wife, Myrl, Bobby Foster, and Harold Foster; nine grandchildren, Shonnette Parks, Sherry Lindsey, Joe Lindsey, Donnie Foster, Lisa Auttonberry, Shane Foster, Kelly Foster, Cassie Cameron, and Debbie Townsend; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Parker and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Donnie Foster, Shane Foster, Joe Lindsey, Billy Peterson, Adam Parks, Joseph Lindsey and Tristan Chilton.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM -- 9:00 PM on Friday, August 20th at Lapine Assembly of
God Church.
