Violet C. Whitten

Services for Violet Carter Whitten will be held at 2:00 PM Friday June 4, 2004 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Officiating will be Rev. Dale Oden of Temple Baptist Church. Interment will be at Monroe Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston from 5:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 3, 2004.

Mrs. Whitten, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Lincoln General Hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Whitten was born November 6, 1920 in Point, LA to Cleveland and Maggie Carter. She was a long time resident of Ruston working 28 years at the Lincoln General Hospital as an LPN. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mayo; son Ronnie; great grandson Brayton Whitten; parents; brother C.W. Carter, Jr.; and sister Fern Stiles.

Survivors include her sons Richard and wife Janet of Hood River, Oregon and George Robertson and wife Jennifer of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ron and Deede Whitten; Jenna and Blain Lehman; Cindy and Adam Graham; and Noelle and Scott Reid; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ron Whitten; Blain Lehman; David Breland; Gary Breland; Johnny Breland; and Billy Carter.
