Violet Marie Mullins, 93, went to meet our Lord on February 27, 2013 after a brief stay at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Violet was born in Madison, MS on January 16, 1920, after graduating high school she went to work at Lee Elementary School. While working at Lee she met and married her late husband of 54 years Abner Mullins who preceded her in death.
She is preceded in death by her first husband William R. Bunyard “Dub”, daughter Diane Vanlandingham, sisters Vernette Todd and Delma Arinder.
Violet is survived by Sandra Grantham (Dallas), six grandchildren Doug Grantham, Greg Grantham, Chad Grantham, Sandy Bradley, Rhonda Cauthen, and Amy Parker, ten great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Her passion was yard work. She always said she felt closest to the Lord when she was working in her garden simply because it was a part of His divine creation. Along with her garden, Violet enjoyed going to auctions with her husband Francis, daughter Sandra and son-in-law Dallas, collecting antiques; including dolls, furniture and glass-ware. Violet was a very giving women, never wanting to take from others. When it came to her family nothing was more important, always giving advice and words of wisdom. She was never afraid to speak her faith in the Lord and what He had done in her life. She was an active member at Southside Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. She would always speak with great confidence in the day that she would get to join the Lord in Heaven. Even up until the last few days before her passing she was constantly thanking Him for His blessings in her life.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2pm from Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, MS. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery.
