Mrs. Cates

Funeral services for Mrs. Virgie Cates, 81, of 605 40th St., were to be held today at 3 p.m. from the First Nazarene Church.

Officiating ministers were to be the Rev. Troy Martin and the Rev. W. E. Carruth. Burial was to follow in Memory Hill Gardens with arrangements by Memory Chapel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cates died Saturday night in a local nursing home. Survivors include one brother, I. J. Johnson of Hueytown; and three step-sons, A. B., Joseph and James Cates, all of Birmingham.

Active pallbearers were to be Chester Simmons, A. M. Peakes, the Rev. Joe Isbell, R. A. Ramey, Johnny Baka and David Cates Weaver.

Honorary pallbearers were to be A. V. Poole, N. K. Lake, Jim Dockery, Dr. Max Moody Jr., Dr. E. C. Brock and members of the Ladies Bible Class of the First Nazarene Church.
