Virgie Garrett
MARKED TREE, Ark. -- Virgie Lee Garrett, 71, formerly of Dayton, Tenn., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Virgie was born on Nov. 28, 1931, in Kayser, Ark., the daughter of the late Rufo and Ruth Blaylock Pinkston.
Virgie lived in Dayton from 1962 until 1992, when she moved to Marked Tree. While living in Dayton, she worshiped at the Salem Baptist Church and in Marked Tree at the Niswander Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gennell ``GP'' Garrett who died Feb. 18, 1991.
Virgie is survived by her two sons, Michael Garrett of Marked Tree, Ark., and James Garrett of Dayton, Tenn.; her sisters, Virginia Wilson of Brighton, Tenn. and Vera Gean of Marked Tree; two brothers, Milton Pinkston of Harrisburg, Ark., and Charles Pinkston of Marked Tree; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Virgie will be held Tuesday at noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating.
Burial will follow next to her husband in Rhea Memory Garden, Dayton, Tenn.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tenn., where they will receive friends Monday after 4 p.m.
