DR. V. H. MECOM

Dr. V. H. Mecom, formerly a physician of Columbia, died in Detroit, Mich. September 6. He leaves his daughter, Mrs. Carl Botlecke [sic Bohlcke], Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. W. S. Culpepper, Monroe, and Mrs. Sam Gregory, Columbia; and three brothers, Dr. W. A. Mecom, Wisner; Philip H. Mecom, Shreveport, and J. I. Mecom of Texas.

Dr. Mecom's wife died only three weeks prior to the death of her husband.

Dr. V. H. Mecom Died In Michigan

Wife Precedes Him In Death By 3 Weeks

Mrs. Dottie Thomas Mecom, wife of Dr. V. H. Mecom of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Columbia and Wisner, passed away on August 14th, 1950.

She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Botlecke; one sister, Mrs. Alma Fant of West Monroe; but three weeks later her husband -- Dr. V. H. Mecom passed away -- on September 6, 1950. He practiced medicine a number of years in Columbia, then moved to Wisner where he resided and practiced his profession until about two and one-half years ago when his health failed him. He then moved to Detroit, Michigan, where his death occurred.

Besides the daughter, Mrs. Carl Botlecke of Detroit, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W. S. Culpepper of Monroe and Mrs. Sam Gregory of ward 5; and three brothers, Dr. W. A. Mecom of Wisner, Phillip H. Mecom of Shreveport and J. I. Mecom of Spur, Texas. His wife preceded him in death by three weeks.

The deceased is also an uncle of Mrs. Guy H. Alford and W. H. Mecom, being a brother of the late Lee Mecom, clerk of court of Caldwell Parish for 30 years.
