Virginia Byrd Whiteside
VIRGINIA BYRD WHITESIDE, of Little Rock, died Wednesday, September 24, 1997. The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E.J. Byrd; she was born in Millville, Ark. on June 11, 1912. She attended the Bearden schools and Henderson State Teachers College. She was an elementary teacher as a young adult and later worked at the Little Rock Public Library. A faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church, she belonged to the Seekers Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Union. She also served as past president of Chapter W of the PEO Sisterhood.
Mrs. Whiteside was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; two sisters and brothers. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Lou Lilly of Little Rock and Josephine Roberson of Camden; her three children Deanna Sheriff of Missoula, Mont., Linda Bowker of Frankfort, Ky. and Dr. Dean Whiteside of Conway; four grandchildren, Leesa Addington, Daniel Bowker, Andrew Bowker, and Maggi LaManna; and one great-grandchild, Campbell Addington.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, September 26, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home on Chenal Parkway. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roselawn Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at Immanuel Baptist Church Chapel, 10th and Bishop.
Memorials may be made to the library of Immanuel Baptist Church, the Cottey College Scholarship Fund or Hospice of Central Arkansas.
