Virginia Dare McCutcheon
Funeral service for Mrs. Virginia Dare McCutcheon, 81, of Nacogdoches, will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 26, 2018 at Eastside United Pentecostal Church, with Bro. Ennis Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery.
Mrs. McCutcheon passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in Nacogdoches. She was born on March 18, 1936, in Center, Texas.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home.
Virginia was born to Edgar and Estelle Parrish Perry, she spent most of her childhood in Center, Texas.
She was married and widowed at a young age and spent a large portion of her life in Houston while raising four children.
It was in Houston that she was introduced to Harry McCutcheon by a cousin. Shortly after, they were married on February 25, 1976, and spent a total of fifteen years happily married until his passing in 1992.
While in Houston, she attended and graduated from Texas School of Business in 1989. Virginia was a devoted mother who raised four children and some of her grandchildren. She loved the time spent with her family and especially enjoyed the Christmas Holiday. She went above and beyond to make sure the season was a memorable one for all her loved ones.
From an early age, Virginia always enjoyed the outdoors, she especially liked to fish and work in her flower garden. Among her many talents was sewing and cooking, she was famous for her chicken and dumplings and her homemade fudge and even had one of her recipes published in a cookbook.
Above all else Virginia loved her Lord and Savior, she was a faithful member of Eastside United Pentecostal Church in Nacogdoches, where she spent her time singing and listening to gospel music.
Pallbearers for Mrs. McCutcheon will be Carson Lapaglia, Christopher Smith, Logan Smith, Zachary Smith, Jacob Porter and Thomas Essery. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Tucker and Chase Smith.
Virginia is survived by her sons: Ritchie Smith, Rex Smith, and Robert Essery; daughter, Tina Lapaglia and husband, Jr.; grandchildren: Christopher Smith and wife, Bibby, Christina Porter, Tanya Tucker and husband, Jason; Carson Lapaglia and wife, Molly, Zachary Smith and wife, Monica, Thomas Essery and Allison Welch; and 11-great-grandchildren along with other family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Estelle Perry, her husband, Harry McCutcheon, and her sisters, Ossie Carney and Wilma Marks.
