Virginia Godbold Schuchs

Virginia Godbold Schuchs, 85, of Ruston died early Monday after a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Natchez City Cemetery in Natchez, Miss., under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston and Laird Funeral Home of Natchez, Miss. The services will be conducted by the Reverend David Porter. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ferriday.

Mrs. Schuchs was born in Adams County Mississippi, was reared in Indianola, Miss., and lived most of her adult life in Concordia Parish.

Her husband, Willard S. Schuchs preceded her in death, as did her brothers Charles Godbold of Shelby, Miss., and Clifton Godbold of Cleveland, Miss., and a sister, Patricia Godbold Shannon of Natchez, Miss. Her parents were the late Patrick Allen and Lola Whittington Godbold of Concordia Parish.

Mrs. Schuchs was a graduate, of Sunflower Junior College in. Morehead, Miss.; a one time member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club; an avid golfer and member of the Mississippi Seniors Golf Association.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Schuchs Couch of Plano, Texas, and Carol Schuchs-Tannehill of Ruston; a sister, Lucille Godbold Gulledge of Greenwood, Miss.; four grandchildren, Virginia Carol Thurston of Indianapolis, Ind., George 0. Tanner, Jr. of Dallas, Richard Wade Couch of Plano, Texas, and Leigh Kelly McEuen of Plano, Texas.
