MANCHESTER, GA -- Virginia Guy Tate, 91, of Manchester died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Tate will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Manchester with burial in the Manchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Tate was born March 2, 1916 in Manchester, GA., the daughter of Milton Benjamin Guy Sr. and Nettie Kate Childs Guy. She retired as a bookkeeper with over 30 years service from Georgia L.P. Gas Company. Mrs. Tate has lived in Manchester all of her life and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild. She was also a member of the Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Gibbs Tate and sister Laura Dyer.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Tate McDonald of Manchester; two grandchildren, Michelle Britt of Manchester and Jeff McDonald of Gulf Shores, AL.; and two great grandchildren, Lindsey Britt and Megan McDonald; a brother, M.B. Guy, Jr. and a sister, Katherin McCoy, both of Manchester.
