Virginia Hair Smith
Mrs. Virginia Hair Smith was born April 2, 1920 in Harrisonburg, LA, and passed from this life August 10, 2012 in Beaumont, TX. Services will be held at 2 PM, August 14, 2012, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Hwy 165 Monroe, LA, and internment [sic interment] will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith married Grady W. Smith during WWII, and through the years, they lived in San Diego, CA, Columbia, LA, Sterlington, LA, and spent their retirement years in Monroe, LA. In 2010, she moved to Beaumont, TX, to be near her niece Jan Armstrong.
Mrs. Smith was a long-time employee of Sally Beauty Supply of Monroe and was a devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Monroe. Virginia was known for helping her fellowman and for her love of cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband Grady, her parents Garfield and Mary Hair, her sister, Rossi Pattison and brother James “Jim” Hair.
Virginia is survived by niece Patti Toups and nephew David Pattison of Baton Rouge, niece Jan Armstrong of Beaumont, TX, and by several great nieces and nephews and an adopted sister Helen Parmer of La Port, TX. Also, left to remember her kindness, are many dear friends, a neighbor Mary Martin, who was like a daughter to Virginia, and a special friend Dr. E. D. Coates, Jr.
The family requests any memorials be donated to The First Baptist Church of Monroe, 201 St John St; Monroe, LA 71201.
