VIRGINIA A. MOON

Virginia A. Moon, 79, of Corinth, N.Y., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, while visiting her son, Douglas Cherry, in Cape Town, South Africa.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, with burial in Hinton Cemetery in Ellisville. Dr. Randy Turner will officiate.

She was first employed by S & H Kress in Laurel as a clerk for a few years and then worked for Rose Jewelry Co. in Laurel for two years. She then was employed by the United States Veteran Administration at the V.A. Hospital in Biloxi, in the supply office for three years. Following her transfer into the U.S. War Department, she worked at Muroc Air Force Base in Muroc, Calif., as a secretary for several years. She was a former member of the Elk's Lodge of Wiggins.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Velma Benton, and three brothers, Myrl Hall, A.B. Hall and Charles Hall.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Julie Cherry of Baton Rouge, La., Douglas and Muriel Cherry of Cape Town, South Africa, and David and Dawn Cherry of Hadley; two brothers, Daniel Hall of Laurel and Josiah Hall of Lake Jackson, Texas; eight grandsons, Aaron Cherry, Luke Cherry, Jacob Cherry, Kristian Cherry, Shane Cherry, Judson Cherry, Kyle Cherry and Jonathon Cherry; six granddaughters, Jennifer Gant, Elaine Cherry, Chantel Cherry, Natalie Cherry, Jana Cherry and Kimberly Donahue; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Kyle Cherry, Meagan Marie Cherry, Bobby Joe Donahue and Karey Donahue; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from noon - 2 p.m. Sunday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
