Virginia Ruth Owen Roper

Virginia Ruth Owen Roper, 83, of Canton, passed away Monday, September 25, 2006, in Canton, TX.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, (Today) September 28, at the Eubank Chapel, Canton, with Rev. Don Childress officiating.

She was born January 1, 1923, in Childress, to Earl and Gussie Rowell Owen. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton, and a former long time member of the First Baptist Church in Oak Cliff. She loved to read, travel, watch movies and cook, which she was very good at doing. She loved the Cowboys, the Mavericks, and the Rangers teams. She will be greatly missed. A special thanks to Jerry Tidwell for all his help with her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Roper in 2004.

Survivors include son Bob Roper and wife, Suzan of Dallas, TX; brother, Eddie Owen and wife, Blanche of Dallas, TX; sister, Betty Christian and husband, J.B. of Dallas, TX; niece, Patty Johnson; great niece and nephew, Echo and Eric Johnson of Dallas, TX.

Remembrance graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 30, at DFW National Cemetery, Dallas/Fort Worth, under the direction of the family.

Visitation was held Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
