Volney Emmitt Cooley

Volney Emmitt Cooley, 84, of Lake Charles died at 5:35 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in a local hospital.

Mr. Cooley was born in Sugartown, LA, raised in DeRidder, LA and moved to Lake Charles in 1955. He was a barber for fifty-five years. Mr. Cooley worked a number of years with a barbershop in DeRidder and owned and operated Cooley's Barber Shop in Lake Charles.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Cooley and wife Shirley of Lake Charles; daughter, Connie Adcock of Moss Bluff; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Ryland of DeRidder and Joyce Adams and husband James of DeRidder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elzie Gill Cooley and 2nd wife, Lucia Istre Cooley.

A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2005 in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Visitation Friday will be from 3:00 PM until 10:00 AM in Johnson Funeral Home.
