Services Set For Aged Ruston Man Killed In Wreck
RUSTON (Special) -- Funeral services for W. R. Sharman, 85, retired Ruston grocer who died late yesterday after being struck down by an auto, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Mr. Sharman died in emergency surgery at 8 p.m. last night 40 minutes after he was struck by an auto as he crossed a downtown street during a light rain.
Mr. Sharman was former proprietor of Oglesby and Jack's Grocery here.
According to City Policeman Robert Edwards, Mr. Sharman, dressed in dark clothing, was hit by Miss Mary Kuprionis, 19, who said she never saw the pedestrian. Miss Kuprionis was moving with the green light southward on Trenton Street in the Lincoln parish courthouse block.
No charges are being considered, according to local officials.
Services will be conducted from the First Baptist Church here with the pastor, Rev. G. Avery Lee, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Lester of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Odis Hammons of Longview, Texas, and Mrs. M. C. Oglesby of Ruston; one son, Lane Sharmon of Los Angeles, Calif., 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
