Walter Pearce
July 27, 1922 - June 5, 2011

Opelousas -- Services for Walter A. (W.A) Pearce, age 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Pam Roy will conduct the services.

W.A., who was a resident of Baton Rouge, La., died on Sunday, June 5, 2011.

He was a retired oil field gauger and a long time resident of Port Sulphur, La. He was a lifetime member of the Shriners, the V.F.W. and a member of the Humble Cottage Masonic Lodge #19 of Opelousas, La. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sylvia Darbonne Pearce; his daughters, Jan Pearce Toca and her husband, Wayne, of Metairie, La., Roxanne Pearce of Kansas City, MO. and very close family friend, Sherry Kirby of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Jeffrey Toca (wife Amanda Toca) and Nicholas Toca (fiancé Amy Casey) of Metairie, La. and 1 great-grandchild, Beau Toca.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Pearl Bihm Pearce; his brother, Clyde Pearce and his sister, Alice Pearce.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
