Waldon A. `Whit' Whittington

Services for Waldon A. ``Whit'' Whittington, of McComb, a former resident of Baton Rouge, are 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb with burial in Hollywood Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Whittington, 81, died March 31, 2005, at his residence. He was born in McComb on March 17, 1924, to Walter Whittington and Bessie Newman Whittington.

He was a retired executive with Wilson Steel Company in Baton Rouge with 35 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and was a member of the First Baptist Church in McComb.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Lofton Whittington, of McComb; one son, David Whittington, of Gillsburg; two daughters, Betty Whittington of Montgomery, Texas, and Debbie Whittington Sampson, of Greenville, S.C.; one brother, Earl Whittington, of McComb; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
