Walter Aaron Sayers
(1919 - 2012)

SHREVEPORT, LA -- For many the telephone calls bringing words of encouragement and advice won't ring anymore. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 3:14 p.m. the Sayers family lost their father, grandfather and great-grandfather, WALTER AARON SAYERS.

Walter was born August 20, 1919 in Lufkin, TX to Walter and Mary Sayers. He passed away on July 15, 2012 in Shreveport. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp. He became a Masonic Master Mason at Sunset Masonic Lodge #438 in July 1943. He was also a Shriner. Walter Aaron was a longtime dedicated member and Deacon at Morningside Baptist Church now converged with Kingston Road Baptist.

He worked for Interstate Electric Company for over 25 years. During this time he was instrumental in the introduction of color televisions to Shreveport. After leaving Interstate he continued his television sales career at Tri-States Distributors.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Sayers and brother, Robert Earl Sayers. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Ron Sayers and wife, Sharon, Robert Don Sayers and wife, Teri; daughter Linda Bancroft and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Susan Holt, Spencer Combs, Russ Sayers, Aaron Sayers, Brad Sayers, and Amy Yvonne Sayers; great-grandchildren, Blake Holt, Jacob Sayers, Jackson Combs and Becket Combs.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Combs, Russ Sayers, Aaron Sayers, Brad Sayers, Johnny Brock, and Albert Cooksey.

A celebration of life with Masonic Rites for Walter will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Mr. Joe Brandon. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 a.m. to service time Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the funeral home.

Thank you from the family to all the caring nurses and aids at LifeCare on the 8th floor at Willis-Knighton Pierremont, Dr. Liu and his staff, Cheryl with Comfort Keepers and her staff. A special “thank you” to RN Flo with Lifecare who was such a great comfort in his final hours, Sunday July 15, 2012.
