McCarty Condition Still Unchanged

The condition of Walter C. ``Bud'' McCarty, 37, who was seriously burned in an explosion and fire on July 1 in Coalgate, was reported as unchanged Monday morning.

McCarty was preparing to fill a butane tank at the John Boyle home on July 1, when the tank was ripped out of the ground by a sudden, unexplained explosion. The blast victim had second and third degree burns over about half his body. He is hospitalized at Valley View.

A call for ``AB positive'' blood resulted in some frantic searching and response. Plenty was on hand in the blood bank Monday morning. McCarty was given two pints Sunday.

His condition is not considered critical.
