Businessman Walter Fowler dies
Walter Crockett Fowler, an Alexandria businessman and avid golfer, died Tuesday in Omaha, Neb., at the age of 58.
Services for Fowler will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Henry Blount and Dr. Gerald Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, under direction of Hixson Bros.
He was past president of the Alexandria Museum of Art and past director of Rapides Bank and Trust Co. Fowler was also a civil engineer and partner with the firm of Price and Fowler Architect and Engineers and was president of Comm-Care Inc. He was active in the nursing home industry.
Fowler, an avid golfer, was a past president of the Alexandria Golf and Country Club and was past president and a board member of the Southern Golf Association.
He was also a member of the Sectional Affairs Committee of the United States Golf Association.
Fowler was a native of Alexandria and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Fowler of Alexandria; two sons, Walter C. Fowler Jr. and John Elliott Fowler, both of Alexandria; one daughter, Nancy Fowler Levegue of League City, Texas; one brother, Richard M. Fowler of Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday in the church.
