Suicide Ruled In Centreville Man's Death

CENTREVILLE -- Walter Parker Dailey, 25, of Centreville, was found dead in his car about two miles south of here about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Bibb County Coroner Jack Lee ruled the death a suicide. He said the man died from poisonous fumes from his automobile's exhaust pipe.

The coroner said a metal hose had been attached to the exhaust pipe and stuck through the back door of the car. The car's engine was not running when the man was found, but the switch was on, Lee added.

The body was discovered by Roy Martin, a resident of the area, late Wednesday afternoon. Coroner Lee placed the time of death at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services were to be held today at 3 p.m. at the Centreville Baptist Church with the Rev. George Bark officiating. Burial was to be in the Pineland Memorial Park with the Jack Lee Funeral Home in charge.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. L. E. Owings of Centreville, and a sister, Miss Pam Dailey of Phenix City.
