VIVIAN, Aug. 28 (Special) -- W. W. Cox, 54, a resident of Vivian for the past 18 years, died in a Vivian hospital at noon today after a short illness.

A native of Plain Dealing, Mr. Cox was an employe of the Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Co. for 22 years. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church near Redwood.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Old Union Baptist Church near Benson with the Rev. Dave Johnson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Vivian, officiating. Burial will be in the Old Union cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Home.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Edna Norwood Cox of Vivian; a son, Donald W. Cox of Pasadena, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Peterson of Gilman, Iowa; a stepson, Major Harold Keith Hall of Corpus Christi, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. K. M. Strange of Plain Dealing; a brother, J. D. Cox of Springhill; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Trimble of Hawkins, Tex., and Mrs. Vesti Martin of Springhill; two half-brothers, Willie Cox, and Daniel M. Strange, both of Plain Dealing; and seven grandchildren.
