Services for Wanda Hart Whitaker, age 68, homemaker of Bastrop, LA will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2001 in Golden Chapel with Bro. James Moffett and Bro. Don Wright officiating. Burial will be in Carter Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whitaker went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 1, 2001 at Morehouse General Hospital.
Mrs. Whitaker was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. She also worked for the Bastrop Enterprise, as well as the Bastrop Inn, and was a substitute teacher for the Morehouse Parish School Board. Mrs. Whitaker was known for her excellent cooking ability and generosity.
Survivors include husband: Charles Whitaker of Bastrop; daughter: LaJane Vinson of Sterlington, LA; three sons: Richard Whitaker of Little Rock, AR, Dennis Whitaker of Dew, TX, Mark Whitaker of Little Rock, AR; three sisters: Emma Lou Suggs of Prescott, AZ, Jean Coburn of Michigan, Brenda Sue Thomas of Sterlington; six brothers: Alton Hart of Yuma, AZ, Clifford Hart of Swartz, LA, Gerald Wayne Hart of Trenton, IL, Mickey Hart of Fort Worth, TX, Namon Hart of Bastrop, Darrell Hart of Bastrop; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Richard Whitaker, O. W. Hogan, Jr., Cecil Whitaker, Ricky Whitaker, Chuck Whitaker, Eric Whitaker and Darwin Vinson.
Visitation will be from 5 PM until 9 PM Monday, December 3, 2001 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA.
