Warren Keith Goodwin
Warren Keith Goodwin, 87, of El Dorado, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Born May 6, 1922 in Calion, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Norphlet Thomas Goodwin and Lula Mae (Kiger) Goodwin.
He was a WWII Army Air Corp veteran, member of West Side Baptist Church and retired boiler operator for Amercable. During his military career, he was a Tailgunner, Staff Sergeant and P.O.W. He was presented many medals which include the Purple Heart, Silver Wings, P.O.W., E.T.O. Ribbon, Good Conduct & Air Medal. He belonged to the 96th Bomb Group 8th AAF. He was also a member of the Caterpillar Club for Paratroopers. Other organizations he committed his life to was the D.A.V. (commander & chaplain), V.F.W., Woodmen of the World, American Legion and a Mason of 50 years. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing and was a Godly man devoted to his church, family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, LaRue (Ward) Goodwin; three brothers, Thomas, Maynard & Dick Goodwin.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Bryant (Lamar) of El Dorado and their (3) children, Keitha Lovette (Don) of Cartersville, Georgia, Marla Hill (John) of El Dorado & Josh Bryant of El Dorado, Melanie Ross of Denton, Texas, and her (2) children, Jessica Close (Brandon) of Fort Worth, Texas, Jennifer Ross of Denton, Texas; three great grandchildren, Madison & Jackson Lovette, Landon Reed Hill; two brothers, Don Goodwin (Ruth) of El Dorado, Edward Goodwin (Amy) of Calion; sister, Iris Hammond of El Dorado; three step-children, LaNell Swantner (Dick) of Portland, Texas, Carolyn Hudson (Don) of Fischer, Texas and their (2) children, Donna Valdes of Kingwood, Texas and Mike Hudson (Dixie) of Cypress, Texas, Buddy Dean (Jo Ellen) of Crossett, and their (2) children, Dana Jones (Robert) of Crossett, Wes Dean (Amy) of Fredericksburg, Texas; nine step-great grandchildren, Aaron & Trent Valdes, Alex & Cassie Hudson, Robbie Jones, James, Lewis, Clay, Jeremiah, Abbie, & Matthew Dean; special friend, Mildred Hollingsworth of El Dorado; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled 1PM Monday, October 26, 2009, at Young's Chapel with Rev. Gerald Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to West Side Baptist Church, Disabled Veterans Fund or the John R. Williamson Hospice House.
