Waynon Clint Winn

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Waynon Clint Winn, 60 years old, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Christmas Day of this Year of Our Lord 2010. What a Christmas this must have been for Clint as he met his Savior face to face and rejoined his loving mother and dad. Visitation will be held from 5-7PM, Tuesday, December 28 at Forest Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29 at 10AM at Forest Park Funeral Home followed by interment at Forest Park East on St. Vincent. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Pierce, Pastor Emeritus of Cypress Baptist Church and Rev. John Fream, Pastor of Cypress Baptist Church.

Clint was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on April 10, 1950 and was a resident of the Shreveport-Bossier area since 1955. Clint was born with Downs Syndrome and possessed all of the loving and lovable traits often found in people with this characteristic. He was a member of the Special Needs Class at Lakeshore Baptist Church, moved with the class to Willow Point Baptist Church and finished the course as a member of the Cypress Baptist Church after he moved into Heritage Manor of Bossier with his beloved “mama”. Clint was special in so many ways. He loved Jesus, he loved the church and he loved people in a pure and forgiving way to be envied by all of us. Even though Clint was Downs Syndrome, he made a real profession of faith in Jesus and loved to worship especially by singing “The Old Rugged Cross”. Clint loved to go to camp, to ball games, play miniature golf where he always outplayed his brother and go bowling with his friends from church and CBARC. Clint worked at CBARC (Frost Industries) for thirty years and retired only after residence at the nursing home made it impractical for him to continue working. At the nursing home he fast became a “well known” resident. The Social Director assigned him tasks he was able to perform to make him feel useful and he loved the attention as well loving his “boss” the social director. The nursing home became an extended family for Clint. He loved the activities and parties at the home and especially the visits from Mary Madden representing the Home Bound Ministry of Cypress Baptist Church who visited too many times to count and never missed a special occasion.

Clint was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Hubert Winn and wife Ruth.

He is survived by his brother Cecil L. Winn and wife Diane of Benton, LA, his special nieces Julie Turnbow and husband Tom of Shreveport, Stephanie Hammons and husband Chris of Dallas, and Amy Winters and husband Brad of D'Iberville, MS and grand nieces Abby, Tally, and Rachel Turnbow, and grand nephews Kyle and Ryan Winters, and a number of cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Billy Grisham, Chris Hammons, Bill Mullinnix, Gary Patrick, Tom Turnbow, and Rodney Walton. Honorary Pallbearers are the member of the Special Needs Sunday School Class of the Willow Point Baptist Church.

Our family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Haynie for years of special care to Clint and to his mother before her death several years ago. Also special appreciation is expressed to Mary Madden of the Cypress Baptist Church Home Bound Ministry for her faithful attention to Clint during the past several years. Many thanks also to special friend Johnnie Hawkins at Heritage Manor in Bossier and to the many caring nurses, aides, and administrative personnel of the Heritage Manor who have given such wonderful care to our Clint.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Cypress Baptist Church.
