Waymon Crocket Erskins
Mr. Waymon Crocket Erskins, age 88, of Sikes, La., passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007, at the Healthsouth Hospital in Winnfield, La. Mr. Erskins was a retired school bus driver for the Winn Parish School Board and was a member of the Hart Assembly of God in Sikes, La.. He served his country in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Erskins was a life long resident of Sikes, La. where he worked all his life in the Timber Industry and owned and operated the Sikes Wood Yard.
He was born October 8, 1918 to the late Crocket Jones Erskins and the late Anna Mae (Sowers) Erskins. Mr. Erskins was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Parker, Effie McDaniel, and Myrtis Catanese; two brothers, Junior and Ralph Erskins.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lee Bell (Parker) Erskins of Sikes, La.; one daughter, Shelby Tinnerello and husband Mike of Winnfield, La.;
two sons, Jerry Lynn Erskins of Summit, Miss. Bobby Glen Erskins and wife Annette of Gaars Mill, La.; two sisters, Florence Parker [and] Bertie Cicero;
seven grandchildren [and] eight great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, La., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, February 5, 2007. Friends may also visit with the family at the Hart Assembly of God in Sikes, La. from 1:00 PM to service time Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held at the Hart Assembly Of God at 2:00 PM Tuesday, with Rev. John David Trotter and Bro. Danny Green officiating. Interment will be at Hart Cemetery in Sikes, La.
Steven Gardner, Danny Green, Harry Baldridge, Tyron Tinnerello, Craig Erskins, and David James will serve as pallbearers.
