Waymon Norway ``Johnny'' Johnston Jr.

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Waymon Norway ``Johnny'' Johnston Jr., 79, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Johnston was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Wynn Parrish, La., a son of the late Waymon N. Johnston Sr. and Pearl Meridith Johnston. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and Statesville Masonic Lodge #27.

Surviving are his wife, Floreine Bivens Johnston, of the home; two daughters, Phylis Johnston Blackmon of Murphy and Cynthia Johnston Lomax of Charlotte; a son, Samuel (Sam) Aron Johnston, of Kernersville; two brothers, Sherman Johnston of Shreveport, La., and Glen Johnston of West Monroe, La.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Johnston, Sarah Blackmon and Michael Blackmon.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Al Ward and the Rev. Dale Hilton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home.
