Waymon Jones Dies At Home; Rites Thursday
Waymon Jones, sales manager at Max Thieme Chevrolet, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday
night at his home at 207 St. John Street. Death was attributed to a self-
inflicted gunshot wound, according to Dr. Billy Floyd, Coroner.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel
of Southern Funeral Home, Rev. Thomas Cox officiating. Interment will be in
the Cypress Creek Cemetery, under direction of Southern Funeral Home.
A native of Ward Four, Winn Parish, Jones for a number of years was affiliated
with a Jonesboro automobile agency as a salesman before returning to Winnfield
as sales manager at Max Thieme about five years ago. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Winnfield.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Hazel, of Winnfield; his mother, Mrs.
Minnie Caskey Jones of Cypress Creek Community; four brother[s], Durwood Jones
and Olan Jones of the Cypress Creek Community; Delbert Jones, Goldonna; and
Rodger Jones, Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. Erline Driskill, Tyler, Texas; and
Mrs. Laverne Copeland of the Cypress Creek Community; an uncle, Austin Jones
of the Cypress Creek Community; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Vines, Russell Smith, Howard Kelley, Terry Malone,
Hubert Davis, and Harry Stevenson.
