Hawthorne Rites Tuesday

Wayne P. Hawthorne, 71, a retired insurance salesman of Ruston, died Sunday night in St. Francis Hospital in Monroe following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Little Creek, La. Rev. Joseph Shelton will officiate with Rev. Aron Paul Erevin, Rev. Danny Hawthorne and Rev. Carl Prentice assisting.

Burial will follow in the Hawthorne Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

A native of LaSalle Parish, Hawthorne was a member of the Midway Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Viola Hudson Hawthorne, of Ruston; a daughter, Mrs. Reba Franklin, of Shreveport; a son, Arbye A. Hawthorne, of Beaumont, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Davis of West Monroe and Mrs. Em Stringer of Trout; and four grandchildren.
