Wilber R. Girod

Wilber Russell Girod, a member of Creekwood Church of Christ and a World War II veteran, died Friday at a local hospital. He was 85.

Girod was a native of Herbert, La., and a longtime resident of Mobile.

Survivors include a son, Wayne R. Girod of Vancleave, Miss.; four daughters, Teresa G. Abril of Nashville, Tenn., Marcelle G. Perry and Denise G. Killcrease, both of Mobile and Beth G. Avera of Grand Bay; two sisters, Johnnie Bell White of Texas and Edna Moe of Florida; two brothers, Herchel Girod and Preston Girod, both of Texas; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral at Creekwood Church of Christ. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Three Notch Road.
